Villota Tinto Selección 2017 is a red wine made by Villota Wineries, in the D.O.Ca. Rioja. It comes from a careful selection of grapes from the oldest plots on the estate, with vines averaging 30 years and soils rich in Pebbles. The hand-harvesting was carried out September 14, 2017, after a strict selection of clusters.
The varietal composition includes Tempranillo (79%), Graciano (19%), and a small contribution of Garnacha and Mazuelo (%). Each variety was fermented separately in stainless steel deposits to preserve its varietal identity. Then, the wine went through a 18-month-old child rearing in French oak barrels from prestigious cooperages (Taransaud, Darnajou, and Vicard), with six transfers during this period to refine their expression.
The result is a wine of great balance, elegance, and aging potential, which faithfully reflects the character of the Rioja terroir.
